Skyview has gone 8-2 against Vallivue recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Hawks will head out on the road to take on the Falcons at 6:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Skyview sitting on four straight victories and Vallivue on five.
While Skyview's win against Emmett wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Hawks had just enough and edged out the Huskies 1-0 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Hawks have posted since March 15th.
Not much got past Ledger Downs, who gave up just two hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Emmett off the board. Downs has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Skyview's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Nixon Downs, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
Meanwhile, Vallivue faced Cole Valley Christian in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Falcons blew past the Chargers 7-1. The Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by six runs or more this season.
Cooper Crutcher was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Crutcher was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.
In other batting news, Eli Daniel was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. Colt Augustus was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
Vallivue's victory was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Skyview, their record is now 11-3-1.
Everything went Skyview's way against Vallivue when the teams last played two weeks ago, as Skyview made off with a 7-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hawks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
