The Southmont Mounties won the last time they faced the North Montgomery Chargin' Chargers, and things went their way on Thursday too. Southmont rang in the new year with a 42-31 win over North Montgomery. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Southmont.
Southmont got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Delorean Mason out in front who scored 15 points along with five steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which Mason has scored at least 25% of Southmont's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Link, who scored eight points along with five assists and three steals.
Southmont's win bumped their record up to 10-7. As for North Montgomery, they now have a losing record at 8-9.
Southmont will head out on the road to face off against Seeger at 6:00 a.m. on Friday. As for North Montgomery, they will be playing in front of their home fans against North Putnam at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. North Putnam is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
