The Iowa Colony Pioneers put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They snuck past Needville with a 49-45 win. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Carson White was his usual excellent self, rushing for 181 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 10.1 yards per carry, and also throwing for 168 yards and a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Jacody Miles, who gained 159 total yards.
When it comes to explaining why Needville lost, one person who can't be blamed is Da'Shawn Burton. Despite the final result, he rushed for 251 yards and five touchdowns. Burton's longest rush was for an incredible 80 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Keilan Sweeny, who rushed for 94 yards.
Iowa Colony's victory was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 10-0. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 47.0 points per game. As for Needville, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-2.
Iowa Colony will take on Furr at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Furr will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 841st, while Iowa Colony is ranked 123rd). As for Needville, they will take on Yates at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
