Basketball Recap: J.H. Rose Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Kahrin Highsmith and Alaya Clemons

J.H. Rose lost against D.H. Conley back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The J.H. Rose Rampants lost 62-39 to the D.H. Conley Vikings. While losing is never fun, the Rampants can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 434th, while the Vikings are ranked 186th).

Alaya Clemons and Kahrin Highsmith certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Clemons posted 11 points, while Highsmith earned four points and 11 rebounds. Highsmith is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Maya Mills, who had three points.

J.H. Rose's defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-10. As for D.H. Conley, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-4.

J.H. Rose didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 39-24 win against West Carteret on the 8th. As for D.H. Conley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 58-51 loss against Jacksonville on the 9th.
