Bayside is 10-0 against Cox since February of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Bayside Marlins will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cox Falcons at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Bayside focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Friday.
Bayside put the finishing touches on their ninth blowout victory of the season. They blew past Tallwood 61-10 on the road. Given Bayside's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 185th, while Tallwood is ranked 395th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bayside can attribute much of their success to Jessie Ware, who scored 19 points along with six steals, and Micala Poe, who scored 25 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Ware is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Jordan Crawford, who scored four points along with ten rebounds and five steals.
Meanwhile, Cox's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They were beaten by Green Run 62-25. Cox has not had much luck with Green Run recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Bayside's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-7. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 37.33 points. As for Cox, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-11.
Bayside took their victory against Cox in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 by a conclusive 49-23. Will Bayside repeat their success, or does Cox have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
