Softball Recap: Central Extends Winning Streak to 15

Central came tearing into Tuesday's match with 14 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.9 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Opelika Bulldogs a 10-0 shutout. Considering the Red Devils have won 19 games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Allyson Supan made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted over her last seven contests. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gerritt Griggs, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 4-for-4. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in March. Kamryn Hammock was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Central pushed their record up to 32-3 with the win, which was their 22nd straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Opelika, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 14-16.

Central will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bulldogs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
