The Calvin Christian Crusaders struggled with assists on Monday (the St. Joseph Academy Crusaders had ten more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Calvin Christian was beaten by St. Joseph Academy 75-14. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Calvin Christian has scored all season.
They got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of
Caleb Lapka and
Garrett Becker, who each put up four points. Lapka also led the team in rebounds with five.
Angel Ochoa continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for St. Joseph Academy, going 8 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 43 points and 3 assists. That makes it 21 consecutive games in which Ochoa has scored at least a third of St. Joseph Academy's points. Luke Sutherlin was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks.
Calvin Christian has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season. As for St. Joseph Academy, they pushed their record up to 13-8 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Calvin Christian will take on Pacific Ridge at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for St. Joseph Academy, they will head out on the road to square off against Army-Navy at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Army-Navy will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
