Wakulla extended the longest winning streak in 5A District 2 this week by beating Trinity Christian Academy, 56-0. The win marks eighth in a row for the the War Eagles.
Wakulla was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after defeating the Eagles. Scott Klees' team came in at 25 in the state poll after placing at number 26 last week.
J.T. Bradwell and Khalid Thomas gave Godby a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Bradwell threw for 340 yards and four touchdowns, while Thomas ran for 149 yards. Teammate Kenny Young added to the ground attack by rushing for 64 yards.
Tra'von Holmes was the best wideout in the league this week as Rickards bested Fort White. Holmes racked up six receptions for 118 yards. Kalin Riles helped Rickards' passing attack out by catching two balls for 34 yards.
Thanks to the talents of Bradwell and Thomas the Cougars have been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Bradwell leads the league in passing with 1567 yards, while Thomas has rushed for 681 yards this season. The Raiders' Holmes leads the league in receiving yards with 513 on 38 catches.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between the War Eagles and Godby. Wakulla enters the contest ranked 25th in the state, while Ronnie Cottrell's team ranks 17th.
There should be lots of points scored when the War Eagles and the Cougars face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Wakulla comes in having scored 316 this season, while Godby has scored 388. The War Eagles scored 56 points last week as they defeated Trinity Christian Academy.
