McKinley Tech is 2-8 against the Roughriders since February of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The McKinley Tech Trainers will be playing at home against the Roosevelt Roughriders at 7:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
McKinley Tech waltzed into their matchup on Monday with four straight wins but they left with five. They claimed a resounding 57-27 win over Phelps Architecture, Construction & Engineering on the road.
McKinley Tech can attribute much of their success to DaMontae Neclos, who scored 20 points, and Ricardo Zeno, who scored 25 points. It was the first time this season that Zeno scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexander Williams, who scored four points along with three blocks.
Meanwhile, Roosevelt scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 83-54 win over Phelps Architecture, Construction & Engineering. Roosevelt pushed the score to 68-46 by the end of the third, a deficit the Panthers had little chance of recovering from.
McKinley Tech has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. As for Roosevelt, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-6.
McKinley Tech didn't have too much breathing room in their game against the Roughriders in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 64-60 victory. Will McKinley Tech repeat their success, or do the Roughriders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
