Auburn (Rockford, Ill.) took the final lead of the game on Saturday as
Tramel Rideout ran for a touchdown with with 1:00 left in the second quarter, bringing the team to victory over
Freeport (Ill.) 27-20.
The Knights were up 19-13 at the half after taking the lead on a Rideout touchdown run in the second quarter.
Auburn was ahead by as much as 14 before the Pretzels pulled closer.
AHS's standout player in the win was
Devone Manns. The senior running back ran for one touchdown. He has now scored six touchdowns on the season.
The Rockford school got revenge for last year's 27-20 loss to Freeport with the victory.
In a Northern Illinois game next week Auburn (4-3) takes on East, and Freeport (3-4) will go up against Hononegah also in a Northern Illinois game.
