3A Region I District 6 recap October 22, 2013
Springtown moved up to 522 from 576 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 3A Region I District 6. The Porcupines were able to move up by topping Castleberry 56-8.
Kennedale took down Diamond Hill-Jarvis 70-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Juwan Washington ran for 133 yards in the win.
Landry Turner threw for 300 yards and 5 touchdowns. He went 24-34 with 1 interception.
Turner put up the best numbers through the air as Springtown defeated the Lions. Turner's favorite target this week was Dillon Springfield, who caught 7 passes for 72 yards.
Brad Turner's team's Turner and Dylan Ray led the league in both passing and receiving yards. Turner has thrown for 1,732 yards this season, while Ray has 37 catches for 387 yards. The Wildcats' Washington leads the league in rushing yards with 1,318.
Fans will be thrilled by an exciting game in the secondary when the Porcupines' Ray goes up against Lake Worth's Tray White.
Next week's game between Springtown and the Frogs will feature an aerial matchup as Turner tests his arm against White's defensive ability.
One of the league's premier quarterbacks will go head-to-head with its top pass rusher when the Porcupines and Lake Worth face off next week.
A big matchup in 3A Region I District 6 this week will be when Kennedale takes on Castleberry. The Wildcats are currently in second, while Sandro Cantu's team is in third.
Kennedale led the league in scoring this week by notching 70 points on the Eagles. Washington ran for 133 yards during the win.
