The Beaufort Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the Woodland Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
On Thursday, Beaufort made easy work of Bluffton and carried off an 18-2 win. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Bobcats recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.
Adalyn Johnson made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.
In other batting news, Beaufort got a massive performance out of Hadley Stevens, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and two RBI. That's the most runs Stevens has posted since back in March. Arianna Smith was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Meanwhile, Woodland hadn't done well against Timberland recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Wolverines skirted past the Wolves 10-8. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Corinne Westbury was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Jordan Mccarthy, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Woodland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .529 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Woodland's record now sits at 7-5. As for Beaufort, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
Beaufort skirted past Woodland 10-9 in their previous meeting on April 8th. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
