The El Camino Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They suffered a tough 69-45 defeat at the hands of Del Campo. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat El Camino has suffered since November 30, 2023.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Demetrious Perry, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Isaac Bennett, who scored eight points.
Del Campo had a senior duo take command as Dino Hatzakos scored 23 points along with five rebounds and two steals and Javi Sidhu dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Hatzakos grabbed two or more steals. Niko Wedderburn was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
El Camino dropped their record down to 6-17 with that loss, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Del Campo, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-17.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. El Camino will take on Trinity Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Trinity Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six contests -- so hopefully El Camino likes a good challenge. As for Del Campo, they will be playing at home against Rio Americano at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Rio Americano presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Del Campo in California (Rio Americano is ranked 255th, while Del Campo is ranked 734th).
