The Rudder Rangers will head out on the road to take on the Magnolia Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Rudder knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully Magnolia likes a good challenge.
Rudder posted their closest victory yet this season on Tuesday. They skirted past Brenham 55-53.
Rudder's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ryan Campbell, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Campbell's trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for four games straight. Jaquise Martin was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with eight rebounds and five steals.
Meanwhile, Magnolia came up short against A&M Consolidated on Tuesday and fell 51-43. Magnolia has not had much luck with A&M Consolidated recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Rudder now has a winning record of 14-13. As for Magnolia, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-15 record this season.
Rudder didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Magnolia in their previous meeting on January 2nd, but they still walked away with a 61-57 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rudder since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
