The West Elk Patriots's three-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They blew past Argonia 44-24. West Elk has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matches by 20 points or more this season.
West Elk's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Briea McGee led the charge by scoring ten points along with five steals and three blocks. McGee continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Makaila Gillespie, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and four blocks.
West Elk's win bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Argonia, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-4.
West Elk will head out on the road to take on Argonia at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Argonia is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home dating back to last season. They will take on West Elk at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully West Elk focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Friday.
