Lila Porter and Emerson Clark did some serious damage despite the final result: Porter got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one triple, while Clark got on base in four of her six plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. That triple was Porter's first of the season. Joleen Saunders was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her six plate appearances.
Meanwhile, West County waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Dragons. The game was the first time the Bulldogs have beaten the Dragons on their field since April 19, 2018.
Grace Barton made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Barton wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Lacey LaMarr, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.
West County's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Kingston, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Kingston hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .331. However, it's not like West County struggles in that department as they've averaged .447. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
