The William Floyd Colonials had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They blew past Shoreham-Wading River 50-29. This was payback for William Floyd, who suffered a 54-52 defeat the last time these two teams met.
William Floyd was led to victory by Jacqueline Sutherland and Kayla Gilmore. Sutherland almost dropped a triple-double on 17 points, 12 rebounds, and 9 steals, while Gilmore scored 23 points along with 7 steals and 5 rebounds. Kayden Meyer was another key contributor, scoring 4 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 steals.
William Floyd's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Shoreham-Wading River, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
William Floyd will head out on the road to face off against Copiague at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Shoreham-Wading River does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
