While losing is never fun, Hilton Head Island can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 128th, while James Island is ranked 29th).
When it comes to explaining why Hilton Head Island lost, one person who can't be blamed is Deja Godsun. Despite the final result, she scored six points along with five assists and two steals. Godsun hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games.
Hilton Head Island has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season. As for James Island, their win bumped their record up to 14-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hilton Head Island will take on Bluffton at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Bluffton is coming into the game hot, having won their last 13 games. As for James Island, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Colleton County at 6:00 p.m. Colleton County has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 15.
