The Kofa Kings entered their tilt with the Youngker Roughriders with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Kofa walked away with a 57-50 victory over Youngker on Thursday. For Kofa, this counts as revenge for the 54-48 defeat Youngker walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.
Kofa's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Elijah Braveheart, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. Braveheart hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for eight straight games. Another player making a difference was Calvin Barber, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Despite the defeat, Youngker had strong showings from Tasean Smith, who scored 17 points, and Ares Chambers, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. That was a full 34% of Youngker's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Hayden Williams was another key contributor, scoring six points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Kofa's victory bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Youngker, they now have a losing record at 6-7.
Kofa won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Cibola at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. As for Youngker, they will head out on the road to challenge Washington at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
