The Wayne Christian Eagles put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 60-53 win over Cape Fear Academy.
When it comes to explaining why Cape Fear Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Angelo Vega. Despite the final result, he scored 22 points along with 9 rebounds and 3 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Gibson, who scored 10 points along with 9 rebounds.
Wayne Christian pushed their record up to 5-0 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.0 points per game. As for Cape Fear Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wayne Christian has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Friendship Christian at 7:00 p.m. on December 12th. Friendship Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 252nd, while Wayne Christian is ranked 76th). As for Cape Fear Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Harrells Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
