After a string of six wins, the Minuteman Regional Minuteman's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a hard 76-59 fall against Innovation Academy. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Wednesday (56), Minuteman Regional still had to take the loss.
Leading Innovation Academy to victory were Bryce Kankam and Derrick Twum. Kankam scored 23 points along with five rebounds and four steals, while Twum went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 32 points and 2 assists. That makes it five consecutive games in which Twum has scored at least a third of Innovation Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Sam Horace, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Minuteman Regional's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-2. As for Innovation Academy, they pushed their record up to 6-3 with that victory, which was their third straight at home.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Minuteman Regional will take on Notre Dame Cristo Rey at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Notre Dame Cristo Rey will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Massachusetts Rankings (they are ranked 303rd, while Minuteman Regional is ranked 135th). As for Innovation Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Prospect Hill Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
