North Central I recap Sept. 26, 2012
Middletown moved up to 478 from 702 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in North Central I. A 55-12 win over Lower Lake helped the Mustangs improve their standing.
St. Helena extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Cloverdale, 40-0. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Saints.
St. Helena's Richard Hoppe and Gatlin Blakely have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Hoppe has thrown for 547 yards this season, while Blakely, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 10 catches for 212 yards. Kelseyville's Robert McLean leads the league in rushing yards with 245.
A big matchup in North Central I this week will be when Middletown takes on Willits. As it stands, bill foltmer's team is in third, while the Wolverines are in second.
There should be lots of points scored when the Knights and Brandon Farrell's team face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Kelseyville comes in having scored 85 this season, while the Saints have scored 116. Rob Ishihara's team scored 0 points last week as it lost to Willits.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Mustangs take on Nat Collicott's team. Middletown has allowed 27 points this season, while the Wolverines have given up 13.
The Mustangs took down the Trojans 55-12 last week, the largest margin of any game.
