The Reagan Rattlers will look to defend their home field on Friday against the East Central Hornets at 7:30 p.m. Reagan knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine contests -- so hopefully East Central likes a good challenge.
Reagan put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Brandeis 39-7 on the road. Given Reagan's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 46th, while Brandeis is ranked 383rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Reagan can attribute much of their success to Brad Jackson, who threw for 247 yards and three touchdowns while completing 74.2% of his passes, and also rushed for 90 yards on only eight carries. Caleb Cappuccio was another key contributor, picking up 108 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Special teams was a major factor in the game for Reagan, racking up 13 points in total. All those points came courtesy of Jonathon Leos: he added nine points with three field goals, and another four kicking extra points.
Meanwhile, East Central can now show off three landslide victories after their most recent game on Friday. Everything went their way against San Marcos as East Central made off with a 45-21 win. The win made it back-to-back wins for East Central.
Isaiah Mackey looked great while leading his team to the win, rushing for 95 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries, while also throwing for 220 yards and a touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Cyelan Whitley, who rushed for 64 yards and two touchdowns.
Reagan pushed their record up to 10-0 with that win, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 31.5 points. As for East Central, their victory bumped their record up to 4-6.
Reagan came up short against East Central in their previous matchup back in November of 2021, falling 14-7. Can Reagan avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
