The Aztec Tigers lost against the Los Alamos Hilltoppers back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Aztec fell 41-34 to Los Alamos.
When it comes to explaining why Aztec lost, one person who can't be blamed is Bailey Clarence. Despite the final result, she scored 12 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Clarence has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nika Mckenzie, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
It was another big night for GG Romero, who scored 19 points along with three steals for Los Alamos. Another player making a difference was Abigail Martinez, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Aztec's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Los Alamos, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-6 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Aztec will take on Thoreau at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Los Alamos, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Robertson at 6:30 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Mexico (Robertson is ranked 38th, while Los Alamos is ranked 48th).
