Rochester is 1-9 against Sacred Heart-Griffin since December of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Rochester Rockets' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Sacred Heart-Griffin Cyclones at 7:00 p.m. on February 13th. Hopefully Rochester focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Friday.
Rochester proved they can win big last Saturday (they won by 23) but on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Springfield and snuck past 53-50. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Rochester has posted since January 12th.
Rochester's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Eli Cox, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds. Kai Bruce was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Meanwhile, Sacred Heart-Griffin pushed their score all the way to 57 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 62-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of Normal University. While losing is never fun, Sacred Heart-Griffin can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 278th, while Normal University is ranked 98th).
Rochester's win bumped their record up to 13-16. As for Sacred Heart-Griffin, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-18 record this season.
Rochester came out on top in a nail-biter against Sacred Heart-Griffin when the teams last played back in January, sneaking past 53-51. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rochester since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
