They breezed by Fuquay - Varina on the road to the tune of 76-35. That looming 76-35 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Clayton yet this season.
Clayton was led to victory by Jeremiah Henson and Andrew Grimes. Henson scored 17 points along with two steals, while Grimes scored 18 points along with three steals. That's the first time this season that Henson scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Justice Mitchell, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Clayton is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. As for Fuquay - Varina, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.
Clayton won't have much time to rest: their next game is against United Faith Christian Academy at 2:00 p.m. on January 13th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (United Faith Christian Academy is ranked 22nd, while Clayton is ranked 45th). As for Fuquay - Varina, they will head out on the road to challenge Willow Spring at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Willow Spring focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Friday.
