The McCamey Badgers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Iraan Braves at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, McCamey didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Water Valley, but they still walked away with a 36-30 win. The victory was just what McCamey needed coming off of a 52-21 defeat in their prior match.
Grant Glidewell was his usual excellent self, throwing for 228 yards and five touchdowns while completing 82.4% of his passes, and also rushing for 129 yards. Glidewell is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last three games he's played. Edgar Quinonez was another key contributor, picking up 86 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Iraan's three-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They came out on top against Eldorado by a score of 27-20.
Iraan can attribute much of their success to Tristan Griffin, who rushed for 129 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Bowman, who threw for 213 yards and two touchdowns while completing 80.8% of his passes.
Another reason for the win was Iraan's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Leading the way was Cade Cravens and his two sacks.
McCamey's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Iraan, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 4-5.
Everything came up roses for McCamey against Iraan in their previous matchup back in November of 2022 as the team secured a 50-14 win. Does McCamey have another victory up their sleeve, or will Iraan turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
