Fort Myers and North Fort Myers are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2021, but likely not for long. The Green Wave will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Red Knights at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Fort Myers barely beat Riverdale the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Green Wave put the hurt on the Raiders with a sharp 13-6 victory on Tuesday. The win was familiar territory for the Green Wave, who have now won five contests in a row.
Sage Rodmyre was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Amira Peterson, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Rodmyre wasn't the only one making solid contact: Fort Myers kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, North Fort Myers waltzed into their game on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Tritons 7-1.
Kaliyah Williams made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted over her last six matches.
In other batting news, Abigail Hynes was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and one triple while going 3-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted over her last five contests. Audrie Florenzano was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
North Fort Myers pushed their record up to 15-7 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Fort Myers, their victory bumped their record up to 17-5-1.
Fort Myers' speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's game. The Green Wave have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for North Fort Myers, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Fort Myers continue to outrun the ball?
