Rincon/University had won two straight games and Leila O'Dowd did her part to make it three on Tuesday. The Rincon/University Rangers came out on top against the Tucson High Magnet School Badgers by a score of 62-51 thanks in part to O'Dowd, who shot 7-for-9 from deep and almost dropped a double-double on 38 points and nine rebounds. Her evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.
Another player making a difference was Emily Martinez, who posted five points and four steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played.
Several Badgers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Amaya Trujillo, who went 5 for 10 en route to 13 points and five assists. That's the most points Trujillo has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexi Pro-Leon, who scored ten points.
Rincon/University has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.7 points per game. As for Tucson High Magnet School, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 10-10.
