Gallia Academy is 2-8 against Dawson-Bryant since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Blue Devils will host the Hornets at 5:30 p.m. Gallia Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.
On Friday, Gallia Academy made easy work of Fairland and carried off a 17-1 victory. The Blue Devils have beaten the Dragons the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Dragons has come to flipping the script.
Chloe Bennett was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four stolen bases and four runs. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Angel, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Wilcoxen, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Gallia Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .618. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Dawson-Bryant didn't have quite enough to beat Rock Hill on Friday and fell 8-7.
Izzy Kitts and Kendall Taylor stepped up to the plate in a big way. Kitts went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Taylor went 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Addi Wilson, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Dawson-Bryant's loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Gallia Academy, the win got them back to even at 7-7.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Gallia Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .345. However, it's not like Dawson-Bryant struggles in that department as they've averaged .313. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Gallia Academy came up short against Dawson-Bryant in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, falling 5-2. Can the Blue Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
