Perry has gone a perfect 3-0 against Conneaut recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Pirates will welcome the Spartans at 5:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Perry has seven straight victories, Conneaut has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Perry's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. Everything went their way against Geneva as they made off with a 7-0 win. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by six runs or more this season.
Not much got past Sophie Sivon, who gave up just four hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Geneva off the board. Sivon has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Perry let Arianna Rogers and Sydney Collins run wild. Rogers went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Collins went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That triple was Rogers' first of the season. Rosalyn Tharp was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Perry was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .344 or higher in six consecutive contests.
Jefferson Area hit Conneaut with a seven-run fifth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Spartans came up short against the Falcons, falling 12-1.
Perry's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-5. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Conneaut, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-9.
Everything went Perry's way against Conneaut in their previous matchup two weeks ago, as Perry made off with a 16-3 victory. Do the Pirates have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Spartans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
