The Munford Cougars will challenge the Halls Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Munford is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
While Munford's win against Covington wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Cougars sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over the Chargers on Thursday. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Chargers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Gabby Asbill and Gabriel Jones did most of the damage at the plate: Asbill went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run, while Jones went 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases Asbill has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Mia Griffin, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Munford kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Halls' good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Ripley.
Halls saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addyson Brodie, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run. Kyleigh Ward was another, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.
Munford's victory bumped their record up to 11-8-1. As for Halls, their loss dropped their record down to 11-9.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Munford has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.6 hits per game. However, it's not like Halls struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.4 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Munford beat Halls 5-0 in their previous matchup back in March. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
