Lehman is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will face off against the Lockhart Lions at 7:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Lehman's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. Everything went their way against Pflugerville as Lehman made off with an 8-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lobos.
Andrew Cruz was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
In other batting news, Franky Delgadillo was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Lockhart entered their tilt with Kenedy on Friday with four consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with five. Everything went their way against Kenedy as they made off with a 9-3 victory. While Lockhart didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-18-1), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Like Lehman, Lockhart also got a great game from a two-way player: Santiago Guerra. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, Guerra gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Lockhart got a big performance out of Waylon Phillips, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. What's more, Phillips posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in February of 2024. Ethan Mendez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Lehman's record is now 4-6. As for Lockhart, their record is now 6-4.
Everything went Lehman's way against Lockhart in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Lehman made off with a 6-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lehman since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
