The Adams City Eagles scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They breezed by Thornton on the road to the tune of 97-53. Adams City has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 25 points or more this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Adams City to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jalen Mckinnies, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. It was the first time this season that Mckinnies pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Xavier Copher, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Despite the loss, Thornton still got an impressive performance from Clayton Jones, who scored 24 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. That was a full 45.3% of Thornton's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Adams City's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-8. As for Thornton, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-7.
Adams City is on the road again on Friday and plays the Raptors at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. DSST: Green Valley Ranch presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Eagles in Colorado (the Raptors are ranked 77th, while the Eagles are ranked 200th). As for Thornton, they will be playing at home against the Commanders at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Kennedy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
