East Dayton Christian struggled with offensive rebounds on Saturday (the Dominion Academy Sabers had 12 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. East Dayton Christian was dealt a 56-18 loss at the hands of the Sabers. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for East Dayton Christian in their matchups with the Sabers: they've now lost seven in a row.
Despite the loss, East Dayton Christian still got an impressive performance from Ava Baker, who scored eight points along with 12 rebounds and five steals. Baker hasn't dropped below three steals for three straight games.
Dominion Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Tessa Merkel out in front who scored ten points along with four steals. Merkel hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Elizabeth Zink, who scored six points along with five rebounds and five steals.
East Dayton Christian has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Dominion Academy, they pushed their record up to 10-2 with that win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. East Dayton Christian will take on the Jaguars at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Shroder Paideia Academy has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 8. As for Dominion Academy, they will stay at home for another game and welcome the Spartans at 4:00 p.m. on January 27th. Calvary Christian is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last ten games.
