Warren County has struggled against North Edgecombe recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Warren County's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kamari Nicholson, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Tony Henderson, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Warren County struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as North Edgecombe racked up 24 assists.
North Edgecombe had a senior duo take command as LaTraviun Parker scored 26 points along with four steals and Dontrevious Whitaker dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. Parker is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Alijah Felder was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with eight assists and four steals.
Warren County has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season. As for North Edgecombe, their win bumped their record up to 12-4.
Warren County will be playing in front of their home fans against Southeast Halifax at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Warren County is on a four-game streak of home losses, Southeast Halifax a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. As for North Edgecombe, they will head out on the road to square off against Rocky Mount Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. North Edgecombe knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 16 contests -- so hopefully Rocky Mount Prep likes a good challenge.
