The Astoria/VIT Rebels's eight-game losing streak came to an end on Tuesday. They snuck past Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia with a 54-48 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Astoria/VIT also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
It was another big night for TOMMI GORSUCH, who scored 22 points. The team also got some help courtesy of KATE STAMBAUGH, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and six assists.
Astoria/VIT's win ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-19. As for Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 11-11.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Astoria/VIT will face off against Elmwood at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Elmwood presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Astoria/VIT in Illinois (Elmwood is ranked 151st, while Astoria/VIT is ranked 540th). As for Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia, they will head out on the road to square off against South Fork at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
