Given Joppatowne's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 110th, while Harford Tech is ranked 238th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Joppatowne found their leader in underclassman Kishann Smith, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. The match was Smith's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Phil Clark, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and three blocks.
Joppatowne's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Harford Tech, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Joppatowne will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Glen Burnie at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Glen Burnie has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 337 points over their last five matchups. Harford Tech will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Benjamin Franklin at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Benjamin Franklin will be coming into the match with an undefeated record on the line.
