Sweeny typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Iowa Colony proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 49-38 win over the Bulldogs. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up seven more assists than your opponent, as Iowa Colony did.
Iowa Colony found their leader in underclassman Eryn Roberts, who scored 16 points along with two steals. Roberts is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Janyha Johnson, who scored six points along with six steals.
Bay City posted their biggest win since December 28, 2023 on Friday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 49-21 win over Stafford.
Khylee Perry was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 23 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Bay City's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alizia Gonzales, who scored nine points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Iowa Colony has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 21-8 record this season. As for Bay City, they pushed their record up to 13-14 with that win, which was their third straight at home.
Tuesday's contest is shaping up to be a scrappy matchup: Iowa Colony have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 35.2 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Bay City, though, as they've been averaging only 15 rebounds per game. Given Iowa Colony's sizeable advantage in that area, Bay City will need to find a way to close that gap.
