The Tech Panthers lost against the Weequahic Indians back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Tech suffered a tough 76-51 loss at the hands of Weequahic. Tech has not had much luck with Weequahic recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Weequahic was led to victory by Tyhir Barlow and Hekeimu Williams. Barlow scored 22 points along with seven steals and five assists, while Williams dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Williams also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Riyahd Mcdonald, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Tech bumped their record down to 1-4 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Weequahic, their win ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-4.
Tech will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Cedar Grove at 4:00 p.m. Weequahic will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against DeWitt Clinton at 11:00 a.m. on January 6th. DeWitt Clinton knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight contests -- so hopefully Weequahic likes a good challenge.
