Northeastern took a three-set loss the last time they faced off against Greeneview, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Jets came out on top in a nail-biter against the Rams on Tuesday, sneaking past 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Jets have posted since August 17, 2024.
The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Northeastern who won the one that mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 14-25, 25-13, 15-25, 15-10.
Meanwhile, Mechanicsburg can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Catholic Central with a sharp 3-0 victory. The Indians not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since August 23rd (when they won 3-0).
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-12, 25-15, 25-16.
Northeastern better keep an eye on Kenzie Stillings. She was instrumental in Mechanicsburg's win, getting 12 digs and one assist. Sydnee Hurst also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.
Mechanicsburg was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 14 aces. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their ace total in three consecutive matches.
Mechanicsburg's record is now 5-8. As for Northeastern, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 3-10.
Northeastern suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Mechanicsburg when the teams last played back in August. Can the Jets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
