Western is 0-5 against Northwest since April of 2024 but things could change on Thursday. The Indians will challenge the Mohawks at 5:00 p.m. Western has given up an average of 14.3 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Green hit Western with a five-run fifth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Indians lost 11-1 to the Bobcats.
Kale Groves was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one run.
Meanwhile, Northwest entered their tilt with South Gallia on Wednesday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They blew past the Rebels 21-3. Considering the Mohawks have won ten games by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Braxton Burris was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Burris was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Northwest got a massive performance out of Chase Kingrey, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Aiden Armbrister, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Northwest kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive matchups.
Northwest's record now sits at 11-3. As for Western, their loss dropped their record down to 1-12.
Western might still be hurting after the 14-3 defeat they got from Northwest in their previous meeting last Monday. Can the Indians avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
