The West Central Trojans will face off against the Knox Redskins at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. West Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.
While West Central's victory against South Newton wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Trojans sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 win over the Rebels on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Rebels: they've now won five in a row.
Jalie Glasford made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. Glasford was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cassidy Lattimore, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Macie Allen, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
West Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Knox made easy work of LaVille on Thursday and carried off a 15-3 win. Considering the Redskins have won six matchups by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Bethany Barnes was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. That double was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Sponaugle, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
West Central pushed their record up to 10-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Knox, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-11.
Knox's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: West Central has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.9 hits per game. It's a different story for Knox, though, as they've been averaging 8.7 hits. Given West Central's sizable advantage in that area, the Redskins will need to find a way to close that gap.
West Central came up short against Knox in their previous meeting back in May of 2023, falling 4-1. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
