While Fort Lupton couldn't quite beat Weld Central on Tuesday, the two-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 33-point defeat they were dealt on Monday. Fort Lupton fell just short of Weld Central by a score of 42-40. Fort Lupton has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite their defeat, Fort Lupton saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Zaylee Chavez, who scored nine points along with five steals and two blocks, was perhaps the best of all. Chavez is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniella Aviles, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Lake County's win bumped their record up to 3-14. As for Fort Lupton, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-13.
Everything went Lake County's way against Fort Lupton in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 as Lake County made off with a 54-34 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lake County since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
