Rocky Mountain has gone 7-1 against ThunderRidge recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. On Friday, Rocky Mountain needed a bit of extra time to put away Loveland. They came out on top against the Red Wolves by a score of 11-7. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 3, 2022, but that streak is no more.
Champ Rivera was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Rivera was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Wrigley Cox was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Eli Murphy was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Rocky Mountain kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in five consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, ThunderRidge was able to grind out a solid victory over Boulder on Saturday, taking the game 6-3.
Will Paquette and Shane Christy did most of the damage at the plate: Paquette went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Christy went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Christy has become a key player for ThunderRidge: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-15 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Zentner, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI.
ThunderRidge's win bumped their record up to 7-16. As for Rocky Mountain, their victory bumped their record up to 17-5.
Rocky Mountain's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's game. The Lobos have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for ThunderRidge, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Rocky Mountain continue to outrun the ball?
Rocky Mountain was able to grind out a solid win over ThunderRidge when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 5-0. Do the Lobos have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Grizzlies turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
