Football Recap: Raymond Central Starts off Right with Win over Fillmore Central

Raymond Central gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They took their game with ease, bagging a 42-7 victory over the Fillmore Central Panthers. With the Mustangs ahead 34-0 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Wyatt Jelinek had a dynamite game, rushing for 191 yards and three scores on only 14 carries, while also throwing for 129 yards and a pair of TDs on only nine passes. Those 191 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Raymond Central also got help from Tavion Johnson, who showed off his sure hands for 83 receiving yards.

Raymond Central didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jelinek and Johnson.

Coming up, Raymond Central will challenge St. Paul at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Fillmore Central, they will welcome Fairbury on Friday.
