The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Grand Island Central Catholic has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Grand Island Central Catholic had strong showings from Mason Vasquez, who scored four points, and Thomas Birch, who scored five points. Vasquez set a new season high mark in steals with two.
Doniphan-Trumbull's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jack Poppe, who scored 15 points. The contest was Poppe's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Parker Volk, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Grand Island Central Catholic has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for Doniphan-Trumbull, their win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-1.
Grand Island Central Catholic will head out on the road to face off against York at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. York is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games. As for Doniphan-Trumbull, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Centura at 7:45 p.m. Centura comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
