Avon Lake had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. Everything went their way against the Westlake Demons on Saturday as the Avon Lake Shoremen made off with a 54-30 win. The Shoremen have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matchups by 24 points or more this season.
Several Demons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Liana Ostrowski, who posted nine points and seven rebounds. Husneya Najjar was another key player, putting up ten points.
The victory was the third in a row for Avon Lake, bringing their record for this year to 20-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 22.3 points on average over those games. As for Westlake, with the defeat, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 16-8.
Avon Lake wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 47-37 win against Unioto on the 26th. Westlake does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
