The Lopez Lobos's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their eighth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 71-21 loss at the hands of Veterans Memorial. Lopez was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 57-14.
Despite the loss, Lopez still got an impressive performance from gabriel rios, who picked up 94 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Veterans Memorial got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Gilbert Trillo out in front who rushed for 71 yards and a touchdown, and also caught a touchdown. Trillo was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 60 yards. Joe Sanchez and his 88 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Veterans Memorial's win.
Lopez's loss was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-9. As for Veterans Memorial, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 9-2.
Lopez does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Veterans Memorial will take on McAllen at 7:30 p.m. on November 10th. McAllen will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 726th, while Veterans Memorial is ranked 357th).
