Two dominant signal callers in Carson White and Edgar Garcia are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Iowa Colony Pioneers are taking a road trip to take on the Lamar Consolidated Mustangs at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Iowa Colony knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully Lamar Consolidated likes a good challenge.
Iowa Colony took a loss when they played away from home back in September, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They blew past Santa Fe, posting a 63-14 victory. Given the Pioneers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 79th, while the Indians are ranked 352nd) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Aaron Tenner had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 88 yards and two TDs on only five carries. He got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 62 yards. Iowa Colony also got help from Jayden Warren, who showed off his sure hands for 88 receiving yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Iowa Colony was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 205 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 200 rushing yards in four consecutive contests.
Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 15 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Jeremy Garner Ii, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Lamar Consolidated was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a 37-7 loss at the hands of Fort Bend Marshall. The matchup marked the Mustangs' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Iowa Colony's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 51.3 points this season. As for Lamar Consolidated, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.
Everything came up roses for Iowa Colony against Lamar Consolidated in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 68-13 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pioneers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
